Navarra Pointing Dog R.S.C.E. Standard Nº409 (Not Accepted F.C.I.) Origen: Spain Utilization: Pointing dog for small game for fur and feather adapted to any kind of ground. His way of hunting is trotting, organized and close to the hunter, whom he forms a spontaneous tandem with, developing the so-called "intelligent hunting". Brief historical Summary The Pachon Navarro is product of the recovery of this breed through dogs coming from the old trunk of the Old Spanish Pointer of which classical authors have echoed during the last centuries. II. General Appearance This is a dog with a sturdy body, included in a rectangle, big head with strong square muzzle, slightly short limbs, cylindrical trunk and wirehaired harsh and coarse. III. Important Proportions Body/Height at the wither: The length of the body longer than the height at the wither. Depth of the chest/ Height at the wither: The height of the trunk equal or higher than that from the elbow to the floor. Length of the muzzle/Length of the head: The muzzle is generally shorter than the length of the skull. IV. Behaviour / Temperament Docile, quiet and intelligent. Friendly with humans as well as with other dogs. In the fields, he is a vigorous trotter, resistant and prone by nature to hunt as a team with the hunter. V. Head Big, square, wide skull. The length of the face is usually shorter than the length of the skull. CRANIAL REGION: Skull: Wide skull with a marked frontal bone, deep cranial furrow dividing the skull into two parts down to the muzzle. Stop: Pronounced. FACIAL REGION: Nose: Wide, big and open nostrils, straight front profile. In some dogs, it can be seen the so-called splitted nose or double nose, characteristic basically gathered by the different classical authors. The colour of the nose and mucous are according to the dog’s coat, avoiding dispigmentations. Muzzle: Wide and square. The length is equal or shorter than the skull.
